When The Gaso announced its closure, locals lamented the loss of another live music venue. But restaurateur Scott Pickett (Chancery Lane, Longrain) announced his takeover of the site and said the bandroom was there to stay.
And the iconic retractable roof remains too. Aside from improvements to the flow of service and amenities, the team has worked to retain The Gaso’s original look and feel. The nostalgic pub offering includes Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and changing weekly specials like steaks, pies, parmas and burgers, alongside curries. Drinks are equally unfussy, with a pared-back selection of local beers, wines and spirits.
The music line-up is inclusive and doesn’t lean into any particular genre. Touring acts and local bands are welcome, as are electronic events where the retractable roof can be opened to allow sunshine to spill onto the dance floor.
